If you can’t say something nice, then ZIP IT!

Hello hello 🔔 St. Francis of Assisi said: “preach the Gospel at all times and only when necessary use words.” The most important task you have with regards to your family members and friends as a Christian is to make sure they remain connected to you. When you’re moralizing and come at people with a judgmental attitude and pointing fingers at people telling them they do this and that wrong you are disconnecting them from you and in that you are disconnecting them from Jesus because you are His body. You are the body of Christ and as long as your children or grandchildren or spouse or co-workers or acquaintances who say they are atheists or agnostics or don’t want anything to do with church or faith remain connected to you, they are through you connected to Christ. Don’t do or say anything to disconnect them! Zip it. Say only the nice things people need to hear, the Bible says, and don’t be like the self-righteous religious people who spew rules and regulations and Bible verses and canon law condemning anyone and everyone except themselves thinking they are right and everyone else is wrong. People need to feel that you love them and care for them and are for them and in that they come to feel that God loves them. Allow people to feel it through your gestures and your smile and the way you carry yourself not through your words. My grandma always taught me “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” That’s my Babcia! She’s the best theology professor I have ever had. With lots and lots of love for you today and always and big Polish smile with a big hello hello 🔔Father Adam Kotas
